President Barack Obama made a searingly personal plea on Friday for Americans to come together and do some "soul searching" after the shooting death of African-American Florida teenager Trayvon Martin by a neighborhood watchman, noting: "If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon."
"My main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin. You know, if I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon. And you know, I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves and that we're get to the bottom of exactly what happened," Obama said in response to a shouted question in the White House Rose Garden.

Amid angry charges that race played a central role in the tragedy, Obama said "all of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how does something like this happen—and that means that we examine the laws and the context for what happened as well as the specifics of the incident."
The U.S. Justice Department has announced that it's conducting its own investigation into whether Zimmerman, whose father is white and whose mother is from Peru, is guilty of a hate crime by targeting Martin, an African-American, on the basis of his race."I'm the head of the executive branch, and the attorney general reports to me so I've got to be careful about my statements to make sure that we're not impairing any investigation that's taking place right now," the president said.
"Obviously this is a tragedy. I can only imagine what these parents are going through. And when I think about this boy, I think about my own kids. And I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this and that everybody pulls together, federal, state and local to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened," the president said.
Obama's comments came just days after his chief spokesman, Jay Carney, had deflected questions about the incident, telling reporters "we're not going to wade into a local law-enforcement matter."

I understand the outrage and all, but to blame a Chief of Police who is hand tied by Florida law is ridiculous.
Looks like a Civil Suit is whats gonna end all of this unless the feds trump up some charges to look like the Knights in shiny armor. Before the hate mail and all, I think the guy was wrong in shooting Trayvon and should have his concealed carry license revoked. Unfortunately though the law is the law and even if they change it, it wouldn't work in this case for it would be grandfathered in.

GATORS WIN

Gators win and continue to KILL my NCAA brackets. But since it is the gators I am OK with that.
Louisville is next and that is scaty considering the run they have made in the last month but gators will prevail.

Well now that Tim Tebow has won again, against the Bears who will be first to complain about his Christianity?

More when will they start reporting that he is a winner, whether it be ugly or pretty he is winning. He loves his God and that draws criticism for nothing more than having faith in GOD. Something our forefathers also had and printed on our money and more.

What would the nay Sayers be doing if a Muslim doing this, oh yes that would be a great and glorious thing to them. Guess they wouldn't report that he threw a 50 yard bomb to his wide receiver would they.

Ohio's version of Big Brother

CLEVELAND (AP) — An Ohio third-grader who weighs more than 200 pounds has been taken from his family and placed into foster care after county social workers said his mother wasn't doing enough to control his weight.

The Plain Dealer reports (http://bit.ly/t68M7D ) that theCleveland 8-year-old is considered severely obese and at risk for such diseases as diabetes and hypertension.

The case is the first state officials can recall of a child being put in foster care strictly for a weight-related issue.

Lawyers for the mother say the county overreached when authorities took the boy last week. They say the medical problems he is at risk for do not yet pose an imminent danger.

A spokeswoman says the county removed the child because caseworkers saw his mother's inability to reduce his weight as medical neglect.

Steve says this is total crap, put the family in counseling or something.  Next maybe fat spouses will be removed and taken to a veggie only land.

My whole family is overweight, guess we can visit each other on the treadmills during the forced exercise period at work or community exercise yards that all residents have to report to at a specified time.

This is stressing me out, glad I have some pumpkin pie to help me calm down....

Russell Family and Friends Canned Food Drive

My church has a Food pantry that is running low on supplies and I want to do a canned Food Drive and help out. So since mostly family and friends read this I am reaching out to you guys to pick up a few extra cans of veggies or canned meat and fruit and bring by the house and I will deliver when I can fill a couple of boxes.

Any monetary donations are accepted by me if you want via Paypal at darts59@yahoo.com or cash at my door will be gladly accepted and forwarded to the Pantry so they can order stuff also.

This pantry has helped us when we were hurting and also helped my niece at Thanksgiving when she was down, they have helped other family members also but will not go into detail.

So if you can help and have a few extra bucks and/or cans of food drop them by or call and Denise and I will pick them up.

ILLEGAL ALIENS

How can the congress have a meeting on illegal immigration with approximately 150 illegals. Why was not one arrested for being here in the USA illegally. Just saying.
